Edmodo, a San Mateo, California-based free and secure network for teachers and students in K12 schools, completed a $15m Series B venture capital financing.
The investment was led by Greylock Partners and Benchmark Capital, with participation from existing investors Union Square Ventures and Learn Capital.
In conjunction with the funding, Greylock Managing Partner and LinkedIn Founder & Chairman Reid Hoffman has joined Edmodo’s Board along with Matt Cohler, General Partner of Benchmark Capital and former VP of Product Management at Facebook.
Led by co-founder and CEO Nic Borg, Edmodo is a free service that allows teachers to create and maintain their own classroom communities across every type of PC and wireless device. It is used to share educational content, manage projects and assignments, handle notifications, conduct quizzes and events, and facilitate engaging learning experiences among students in classes and colleagues in professional learning networks.
