Tinkercad Receives $1M in Seed Funding

Tinkercad, a Helsinki, Finland-based provider of a browser based 3D printing CAD, has received $1m in seed funding.

The round was led by True Ventures, with participation from angel investors Eghosa Omoigui, Taher Haveliwala, Jyri Engestrom, and Joshua Schachter.

The company plans to use the funds to accelerate the adoption of its solutions.

Led by CEO and co-founder Kai Backman, Tinkercad offers a fast way to create designs (from jewelry and accessories to toys, household items, car parts, and industrial hardware), for 3D printers through a browser. Free to use, Tinkercad also encourages sharing designs under a creative commons license. In addition to printing on their personal 3D printers, users can order designs directly through Tinkercad from printing services like Shapeways and i.Materialise.
