STELLAService, a New York City-based independent customer service ratings provider for online retailers, has closed a $5m Series A funding.
The round was led by Battery Ventures, with participation from existing investors DFJ Gotham Ventures and RRE Ventures and new investor Forerunner Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to grow the business, build out its team and further develop its product.
Founded in 2009 by CEO Jordy Leiser, STELLAService evaluates service features, policies and performance metrics of thousands of online retailers in every shopping category through an objective evaluation process of the online customer experience, which intuitively mimics real conditions, environments and encounters experienced by online consumers.
Online retailers displaying the STELLAService seal include Zappos, 1800Flowers, Wine.com, 1800Contacts, Gilt Groupe and GNC, among others.
The company also publishes reports and other research.
