Kanichi Research Services Secures £50K from the North West Fund for Biomedical

Kanichi Research Services Ltd, a Manchester, UK-based company that develops sensors for the healthcare market, has raised £50k from the North West Fund for Biomedical.

The company intends to use the funds to grow its team, particularly the commercial unit, enabling it to engage further with existing customers and licensees, as well as to continue to prosecute its existing patent portfolio, and file new patents.

Founded in 2008 by Professor David Walton, Kanichi develops novel electrochemical sensors for the point of care healthcare market. The company specializes in developing custom-made electrodes and other bespoke electrochemical components for advanced sensor systems, including the detection of a range of chemical and biological molecules in air, breath and liquid media. Applications include medical diagnostics, electrophysiological sensors, detection of heavy metals, and DNA sensing.

Kanichi’s electrochemical and nanomaterial technology is also available to support advances in other areas such as trace component detection, highly conductive functionalised inks, radio frequency identification devices, fuel cells and printed thin film batteries.
