Accel Partners Launches $100M Big Data Fund

Global venture capital firm Accel Partners has just launched its $100m Big Data Fund.

The new investment initiative aims to back companies throughout the Big Data ecosystem, including next generation storage and data management platforms and innovative software applications and services, such as data analytics, vertical applications, mobile, etc.

The firm, which will manage the fund across global offices in U.S., London, China and India, is also organizing a Big Data Conference in Silicon Valley to occur in Spring 2012.

The investment vehicle partners with Cloudera, a Palo Alto, CA-based provider of Apache Hadoop-based data management software and services, to give the fund-backed companies access to its industry and customer insights, as well as advice on developing applications on the Apache Hadoop platform.
