ZeaChem Inc., a Lakewood, Colo.-based developer of biorefineries for the conversion of renewable biomass into sustainable fuels and chemicals, has raised $19m in Series C financing.
The round was led by Birchmere Ventures, with participation from existing investors Firelake Capital, Globespan Capital Partners, Mohr Davidow Ventures, PrairieGold Venture Partners and Spring Ventures.
In conjunction with the financing, Sean D.S. Sebastian, partner at Birchmere Ventures, has joined ZeaChem’s Board of Directors along with Ross Pillari and Charles “Charlie” Shaver.
Incorporated in 2002, the company operates a research and development laboratory facility in Menlo Park, Calif. Its 250,000 gallon per year cellulosic biorefinery is currently under construction in Boardman, Oregon.
