Essence Group Holdings Corp., a provider of collaboration, reimbursement, clinical informatics and information technology services for healthcare companies, has received an additional $9m investment from Sandbox Industries-managed BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners.
This investment adds to the $61m infusion from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Camden Partners (read here) announced in July.
Led by chairman and chief executive officer W. Michael Long, the company intends to use most of the new capital in its Saint Louis, Missouri-based subsidiary Lumeris Corp., which focuses on software and services for accountable health care delivery systems.
