DataStax Closes $11M Series B Round of Financing

DataStax, a Burlingame, CA-based provider of Apache Cassandra, an open source distributed database management system, has closed an $11m Series B round of financing.

Backers include new investor Crosslink Capital and existing investor Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to expand adoption of Apache Cassandra.

Led by CEO Billy Bosworth and co-founder and CTO Jonathan Ellis, DataStax has just launched DataStax Enterprise, a distributed and scalable database platform – powered by Apache Cassandra™ – for enterprise applications that manage both real-time and analytic workloads. The company has over 100 customers, including Netflix, Cisco, Rackspace and Constant Contact, and spans verticals including web, financial services, telecommunications, logistics and government.

In conjunction with the financing, DataStax has added Eric Chin, Partner at Crosslink Capital, to its Board of Directors.

The company has offices in Austin, TX and Stamford, CT.
