Link_A_Media Devices Raises $16M in Series D Funding

Link_A_Media Devices, Inc. a Santa Clara, CA-based developer of semiconductor system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for the data storage market, raised $16m in Series D funding.

Investors included ITOCHU Technology Ventures, Keynote Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, SunAmerica Ventures and other strategic partners.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the development and commercialization of new products and expand the existing customer base.

With a market driven by the explosion in content and its delivery across a multitude of platforms, including enterprise systems, PCs, tablets, smartphones and set-top boxes, Link_A_Media’s low-density parity check (LDPC)-based SOC products are designed to enable hard disk drive (HDD) and solid-state drive (SSD) OEMs to increase storage density and reduce manufacturing costs.

The company is led by CEO and Chairman Dr. Hemant Thapar.
