Inkling, a San Francisco, CA-based platform for creating, distributing and consuming interactive learning content on iPad, has received $17m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Tenaya Capital, with participation from Jafco Ventures, Pearson Education, and Sequoia Capital.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate the development of its platform.

Led by CEO Matt MacInnis, Inkling works with publishers to rebuild textbooks into a learning experience on iPad, incorporating rich interactivity, 3-D models, self-quizzes, and real time note-sharing among students and professors.
