we7 Closes New Funding Round

we7, an Oxford, UK-based cloud-based music streaming service that allows users to create personal radio stations, recently closed a new funding.

Investors include current backers Peter Gabriel and Eden Ventures, and new shareholders Qualcomm Ventures and Pentech Ventures.

The company is using the new capital to further grow in the UK and expand into new territories across Europe.

Founded in 2006 by John Taysom and led by CEO Steve Purdham and CTO Gareth Reakes, we7 is a music-streaming site delivering music based on the users’ choices. The platform allows them to choose an already existing radio station or type in the name of an artist, song or a music genre they like from a library of over 7m pieces. We7’s Internet Radio Plus functionality then selects complimentary songs from within the same music genre and creates a play list that suits the user’s music taste.
The service is available in the UK and Ireland for PCs, tablet devices, iPhone and Android phone.
