MoPub Raises $6.5M in Series A Funding

MoPub, a San Francisco, CA-based Mobile advertising startup, raised $6.5m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Accel Partners, with participation from co-investor Harrison Metal Capital.

In conjunction with the funding, Rich Wong, Partner at Accel Partners, will join the company’s board.

Founded by former AdMob and Google product managers and engineers Jim Payne (CEO), Bryan Atwood and Nafis Jamal, and publicly launched in February, MoPub is an ad serving platform for mobile applications and websites, which allows publishers to easily book and manage mobile rich media interstitials, banners and custom formats, whether on a direct sold basis or brokered through a network. It is open to any mobile publisher and serves ads across Android, iOS and mobile web platforms.

The company, which currently has twelve employees, plans to double by the end of the year. It is hiring across engineering, business development and operations for its headquarters and sales office in New York, NY (http://www.mopub.com/about/jobs).
