EpiGaN Closes a €4M First Funding Round

EpiGaN, a Leuven, Belgium-based company that develops Gallium Nitride on Silicon (GaN) on-silicon wafers, has closed a €4m funding round.

Investors include Capricorn Cleantech Fund, Robert Bosch Venture Capital and LRM.

The company intends to use the funds to start volume production of its GaN-on-Si epitaxial material.

Founded in 2010, by Dr Marianne Germain, CEO, Dr Joff Derluyn, CTO and Dr Stefan Degroote, COO, as a spin-off of imec, EpiGaN has developed GaN-on-Si, a technology designed to enhance power management efficiency, implement renewable energy sources, or enable cleaner transportation technologies with reduced environmental impact.

In conjunction with the funding, Gadi Toren, venture capital investment partner at RBVC, Marc Lambrechts of Capricorn Cleantech Fund, will join the board of EpiGaN.
