Bacula Systems, an Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland-based provider of commercial open source backup and restore software, has completed a CHF4.5m (approx. over US$5m) funding.
Investors include KM Capital Partners and DEV, the Economic Development arm of the Swiss Canton of Vaud.
The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its software development program, and further grow its sales and channels services. To this end, Bacula Systems appointed Aristide Carracio as its new Director of Sales and Marketing, and Stephane Schweizer, as its EMEA Sales and Marketing Manager.
The company was created to provide professional support and services related to Bacula, the enterprise backup solution that is 100% open-source, free of license costs and adheres strictly to open standards.
Led by Bacula’s author, founder and CEO Kern Sibbald, Bacula Systems has offices in the US, the Netherlands, Germany and France.
