Sandbox Industries, a venture capital firm and incubator for startup companies, launched Healthbox, a Chicago-based business accelerator that will focus exclusively on the healthcare industry.
Healthbox, which is supported by a number of significant players in the healthcare industry, including providers, payers, and other strategically relevant organizations, follows the successful experience of Excelerate Labs, a tech accelerator that Sandbox co-founded last year.
It is designed to identify emerging healthcare technology and technology-enabled services start ups.
Through a competitive application process, ten entrepreneurial teams from around the country will be selected to participate in a three month program. Healthbox will provide each of the ten companies with development resources, including access to industry leaders, investors, and established entrepreneurs, workshops conducted by experts, a collaborative workspace, and $50,000 in seed capital.
The program, directed by Dan Phillips, will finish with an Investor Day that will alloe entrepreneurs to pitch to angel and venture investors.
