Parlor.fm, a voice-based mobile social network, has closed a $500,000 angel round of funding from ALM UNLTD.
Parlor will use the funding to bolster its mini-applications and launch new functionalities.
Led by CEO Joel Schwartz, Parlor is a social platform that allows users to talk to friends and new contacts, share interests, and promote themselves online. It is backed by VoIP technology and a variety of mobile apps. Parlor is currently available for free on Android and iPhone devices. BlackBerry and Windows Mobile versions will be launched soon.
The platform includes a chat feature, conference and broadcast apps, a profile tool that allows users to create four profiles to fully showcase their social and professional offerings and a comprehensive Journal app to post pictures, updates, and links.
