Sittercity Closes $22.6m Series B Equity Financing

Sittercity (http://www.sittercity.com), a Chicago, IL-based website connecting families with child care, pet care, eldercare, home care and tutoring solutions, closed a $22.6m Series B equity financing.

The round was led by Baird Venture Partners (BVP) and New World Ventures (NWV), with participation from new investors State of Wisconsin Investment Board, Western Technology Investment and existing investors Point Judith Capital, Apex Venture Partners and I2A.

The company intends to use the funding to expand both domestically and abroad.

To consolidate its position in the U.S., Sittercity will continue to invest in its corporate program, which allows organizations including the Department of Defense, Avon, MasterCard, FOX Networks, Pitney Bowes and Monster Worldwide. to offer it as a benefit to their employees. The company will also leverage BVP’s global network to accelerate international expansion.

In conjunction with the funding, Benedict Rocchio, BVP partner, and Adam Koopersmith, partner with New World Ventures, will join Sittercity’s Board of Directors.

Led by CEO Martin Clifford, Sittercity has a network of more than 2 million caregiver profiles nationwide, who can  add photos, experience, training, safety skills, availability calendars, and reviews. Care seekers are allowed to use a screening process to find their favourite in-home care provider.
