In Q1 2010, AudioMicro, a Sherman Oaks, CA-based company that offers a large collection of user-generated royalty free music and sound effects, received a $750k strategic investment from micro stock photo agency Fotolia.
Early-stage investor DFJ Frontier also participated in the financing.
In conjunction with the transaction, Oleg Tscheltzoff, co-founder and CEO of Fotolia, has joined AudioMicro’s board of directors.
The two companies already launched four projects including:
Cartoonsy.com, a marketplace for licensing cartoons and cartoon animations,
ChooseTattoos.com, a database of tattoo designs and tattoo flash from tattoo artists worldwide,
ImageCollect.com, which includes micro stock celebrity pictures with over 750,000 images
InfoGraphicStock.com – a market for infographics and data visualization
Acting as a discovery and distribution platform for stock audio content AudioMicro licenses music and sound effects through credit-based and subscription packages. Its collection of royalty free music, stock music, sound effects, and free sound effects includes over 225,000 tracks of both crowd-sourced and premium, record label-owned content.
