Hadapt Inc., a New Haven, CT-based start up that commercializes inventions around analytical database research in virtualized environments, has raised initial funding.
Investors include Advantage Capital Partners and Ironwood Capital*.
Founded by Justin Borgman (Chief Executive Officer), Daniel Abadi PhD (Chief Scientist) and Kamil Bajda-Pawlikowski (Chief Software Architect), the company intends to use the funds to complete software development for general release later this year.
Hadapt’s product approach is a full integration of the open source parallel data processing framework, Hadoop. The company is adapting and expanding the Hadoop architecture to bring a more complete SQL interface, a patent-pending Adaptive Query Execution™ capability, and a hybrid storage engine to handle structured as well as unstructured data in a single platform.
Adaptive Query Execution™ is designed to dynamically load balances queries in virtualized environments and allow analytical workloads to be automatically split between relational database engines and Hadoop.
