Wanderfly.com, a travel recommendation engine that helps people discover new experiences tailored to their budgets and interests, has raised $1m in funding.
Investors include Charles River Ventures, Jason Calacanis, StartupAngel, James Bailey and Roger Dickey.
The company intends to use the funds to add social planning functionalities, user-generated and community content and mobile applications, accelerate marketing and strategic partnerships, and syndicate Wanderfly’s technology on partner sites.
Launched in mid-October 2010 and led by CEO and co-founder Evan Schneyer, Wanderfly enables users to plan, share and book complete trips, including flights, hotels and activities. Powered by a recommendation engine, it currently features 1,200+ destinations worldwide and content from dozens of brands such as Hotels. com, Facebook, Foursquare, Yelp, Lonely Planet and Not For Tourists.
