Sparrow, a “minimalist” mail application for Mac, has received an equity investment of undisclosed amount from Kima Ventures.
Launched in early 2010 by Hoa Dinh Viet and Dominique Leca, Sparrow integrates a proprietary mail engine (based on Etpan/Hermod) and aims at improving the mail experience on Mac.
Features include threads, labels, quick reply, multiple accounts, inline attachments, and notifications.
It is currently compatible for Gmail accounts. The new release will integrate IMAP support for mail providers such as Yahoo, AOL, and MobileMe.
A free trial version of the app, called Sparrow Lite, is also available.
