MobileTag Raises €6.6M

Mobile Tag, a Paris, France-based provider of 2D and 1D barcode marketing solutions, has raised €6.6m in a new financing round.
The round was led by S.E.B. Ventures (Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken Venture Capital), with participation from existing investors XAnge Private Equity and Alven Capital.
In conjunction with the funding, Frank Kelcz of SEB, has joined MobileTag’s board.
The company intends to use the funds to strengthen its position in the US market as well as further consolidate in Europe and develop both its range of marketing services as well as its sales teams.
Founded in 2006 by Domenico Surace, Mobile Tag develops mobile marketing solutions allowing access to digital content using a mobile handset to scan 2D barcodes (QR-codes, Datamatrix, Flashcode, Fotokody), 1D barcodes found on packaging (EAN, UPC), as well as via NFC tags.
The company, whose solutions are used by advertisers, brands and agencies, employs 55 people in France and the USA (Mobile Tag, Inc. is based in Atlanta, GA).
