Boulder Wind Power, a Boulder, CO-basd developer of a utility-scale wind turbine technology that is designed to reduce the cost of wind generated electricity, raised $8m in Series A financing.
The round was led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), with participation from James J. Maguire, Jr., Chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia Insurance Companies.
As also stated by co-founder and CEO, Sandy Butterfield, the company intends to use the funding to complete development, testing and commercialization of its direct drive technology for utility scale wind power.
Co-founded in 2009 by Butterfield, Jim Smith and Matt Jore, Boulder Wind Power also announced that Tim Connor has joined as Vice President of Business Strategy and CFO.
