Vook, an Alameda, CA-based enhanced digital publisher, closed a $5.25m Series A financing round.Investors include VantagePoint Venture Partners and Floodgate.
The company intends to use the capital to accelerate sales and invest in technology.
Vook has developed a digital mixed-media tool (“Vook“) that is designed to help publishers, authors, and media companies re-create, distribute, and monetize their existing content in a new form. It combines video, text, images and social sharing into a single and integrated experience. Vooks are available as a web-based application and an application for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
The company has closed strategic partnership with book publishers and literary agents, and published Vooks with bestselling authors, including Deepak Chopra, Seth Godin, Tom Peters, Stephen Covey and Anne Rice.
Vook, which also has offices in New York, had raised $2.5m in seed financing in February, 2010.
