PrimeSense Inc., a Tel Aviv, Israel-based global developer of sensing and recognition technologies for consumer markets, has received a strategic investment of undisclosed amount from Silver Lake Sumeru.
As stated by Inon Beracha, PrimeSense’s CEO, the investment will help the company innovate and grow.
In conjunction with transaction, Paul Mercadante, Managing Director of Silver Lake Sumeru, will join the company’s board of directors.
Through its proprietary Natural Interaction Technology, PrimeSense enables 3D mapping and gesture recognition capabilities in consumer electronics such as televisions, gaming systems, and personal computers. Tracking body movements and gestures, the company’s technology allows consumers to operate electronic devices without a handheld device or a remote control.
PrimeSense operates offices in North America, Japan, Singapore, Korea, China and Taiwan.
