Talend Completes $34M financing; Acquires Sopera

Talend, a Los Altos, CA-based provider of open source data management software, has completed a $34m financing.
The round was led by Silver Lake Sumeru, with participation from existing investors Balderton Capital and IDInvest Partners (formerly AGF Private Equity).
In conjunction with the round, John Brennan, managing director at Silver Lake Sumeru, will join Talend’s board of directors.
In conjunction with the funding event, the company also announced that it acquired Sopera, a provider of open source SOA and middleware platforms. Sopera now becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Talend and its application integration division. Talend will retain Sopera’s employees, while investing to accelerate the global expansion of the newly formed division.
Sopera provides its customers with an integration suite, (called Sopera ASF – Advanced Service Factory), an Open Source platform that enables users to implement complex integration projects at low cost. Customers include Deutsche Post, Zurich Insurance and Landesbank Berlin.
