Nextag, a San Mateo, CA-based comparison shopping website for products and services, acquired online coupon provider NextCoupons.com.
According to a press release, “Nextcoupons.com is a logical addition to Nextag’s portfolio of services as the company continues to build out features that meet consumer desire for a more fun, social and personalized experience in the evolving online shopping space”. For the company, the acquistion represents a further step in a series of strategic hiring, technology development, and acquisition efforts. The financial terms of the acquisition remained undisclosed.
Based in Santa Monica, CA, NextCoupons.com allows shoppers to create an account and share offers with the rest of the site’s visiting deal hunters. Its technology also provides retailers with direct access to the site’s coupon inventory, allowing them to post their own coupons and coupon codes, and even view statistics on previously posted coupons.
Nextag operates comparison shopping sites in the US (Nextag.com), the UK (Nextag.co.uk), France (Nextag.fr), Germany (Nextag.de), Spain (Nextag.es), Italy (Nextag.it), Australia (Nextag.com.au) and Japan (Nextag.co.jp). The company has offices in London, Tokyo and Gurgaon, India.
