LiveU Raises $11M in Third Funding Round

LiveU, Inc., a Paramus, NJ and Kfar Saba, Israel-based provider of highly portable live video transmission solutions over wireless networks, has raised $11m in a third round of funding.
This investment, which brings the total amount raised by the company to date to to over $23m, was led by Pitango Venture Capital, with participation from existing investors Carmel Ventures and Canaan Partners.
In conjunction with the funding, Isaac Hillel, Managing General Partner at Pitango Venture Capital, joins LiveU’s board of directors.
Founded in 2006, LiveU develops a technology for the transmission of high quality live video from the field directly to the Internet and TV, by using wireless networks such as 3G cellular data, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX, without any need for dedicated infrastructure.
LiveU’s video transmissions allow TV broadcasters and online video sites to provide live coverage to their users. Customers include large TV networks, news agencies, and online media companies.
The company’s R&D center is based in Israel; sales, marketing and support headquarters are based in New Jersey.
