Abroad101, a Boston, MA-based study abroad review website, completed a $500,000 second funding round.
Investors include Steve Kaufer and Nick Shanny, two co-founders of TripAdvisor. The founder of StudyAbroad.com, Mark Shay, also invested in Abroad101 and joined the advisory board.
The company also won $50,000 in the first annual MassChallenge Global Startup Competition.
Abroad101, which recently began generating revenue, plans to expand its team beyond the four current employees. Commenting on the funding, Adam Miller, CEO of the company, said: “More capital will allow us to grow the business faster and maximize its impact by building more software and expanding our reach”.
Founded in 2007 by Tufts, Harvard, and MIT graduates, Abroad101 provides universities with a free online evaluation tool and global program providers with an advertising and student recruitment platform.
