MocoSpace, a Boston, MA-based operator of a mobile browser-based social gaming platform, received a $3.5m strategic investment from SoftBank Capital.
Existing investors in the company include General Catalyst, Pilot Group and angel investor Michael Dearing.
The company will use the capital to expand management team and develop its platform, which will provide game developers with a robust environment and mobile web reach via smartphone browsers, as well as access to the MocoSpace audience.
In addition, a browser-based mobile social game will be launched. The company is currently developing partnerships with mobile web game developers to provide a wide range of titles on its platform.
In conjunction with the investment, SoftBank Capital’s managing partner, Ron Fisher, is joining MocoSpace’s board of directors.
