Bloomspot Closes $9M Series A Round of Funding

Bloomspot, a flash sale service focused on luxury hotels, restaurants and spas, has closed a $9m Series A round of funding.
The round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from seed investors True Ventures and Harrison Metal.
Other investors part of the company’s initial seed round, closed in March 2009, include prominent Silicon Valley executives Jeff Weiner, CEO of LinkedIn, Erik Blachford, Chairman of TerraPass and former CEO of Expedia Inc., and Brad Garlinghouse, President at AOL, Consumer Applications Group.
The company enable local and travel brands including Le Cirque, Caviar Russe, RH Restaurant, Milliken Creek Inn, Sea Ranch Lodge, and Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa, to attract and retain affluent customers.

Bloomspot is currently serving New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and is currently rolling out services in Washington and Boston.
The company’s founders are Jasper Malcolmson and Ashish Baldua, previously VP/GM and head of engineering, respectively, for the Yahoo! Commerce Group, including Yahoo! Travel, Shopping and Local.
