StatSheet Secures $1.3M in Venture Capital Funding

StatSheet, Inc., a Durham, NC-based sports media company delivering online data visualization and automated publishing capabilities, has secured $1.3m in its first round of venture capital funding.
The round was led by Valhalla Partners, with participation IDEA Fund Partners and other investors.
In conjunction with the financing, Valhalla General Partner Scott Frederick and Atlanta entrepreneur and former Turner Broadcasting executive Greg Foster have been named to the company’s board of directors.
The company’s platform, showcased at StatSheet.com, allows sports fans to access to in-depth analysis and data on hundreds of teams and thousands of players across decades of sports events, related, among others, to NCAA basketball, College Football, NASCAR, NBA.
Users can run queries on data, instantly build charts and graphs, and customize their view of relevant information.
In addition, the Embed StatSheet (http://embed.statsheet.com) service allows customers to integrate historical or real-time stats, charts, and other graphical elements on a website or blog. 
The company is also planning to roll out an extensive network of team-specific sites powered by a central automated publishing system. Sites will be automatically updated with relevant content such as game previews, injury updates and recaps.
