€1.2BN Italian Private Equity Fund Authorized by Central Bank

Fondo Italiano di Investimento, the mezzanine and private equity fund created by the Italian Government in order to support the development of small and medium sized enterprises across the country, has been officially authorized by Banca d’Italia.
Founding investors in the fund include Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Associazione Bancaria Italiana (ABI), Confindustria and private banks Intesa SanPaolo, Unicredit and Monte dei Paschi di Siena.
According to a press release, other banks including Istituto Centrale delle Banche Popolari, which committed €100m, Credito Valtellinese, Banca Popolare di Milano, Banca Popolare dell’Emilia Romagna, UBI and Banca di Cividale, which committed €20m each, also joined the fund.
These new commitments bring the total amount raised to date to €1,2bn.
