Ember Corporation, a Boston, MA-based provider of low-power wireless mesh networking technology, received $5m in venture debt financing from Wellington Financial LP.
The new funds will provide the company with additional working capital to accelerate its growth.
Ember is a promoter of the ZigBee Alliance, an association of companies working together to enable reliable, cost-effective, low-power, wirelessly networked, monitoring and control products based on an open global standard.
The company’s networking systems are used in the smart grid – smart meters, home area networks (HANs) and automatic meter reading applications, which enable consumers, utilities and businesses in better managing energy resources, saving costs and reducing carbon footprint.
Ember, which is financially backed by venture capital investors including Polaris Ventures, Grand Banks Capital, RRE Ventures, Vulcan Capital, DFJ ePlanet Ventures and New Atlantic Ventures, has an IC design center in Cambridge, England, an office in Hong Kong and sales channels worldwide.
