Italy, Friulia S.G.R. Invests in Surgica Robotica

Friulia S.G.R., through the AlAdInn Venture Fund, has acquired a 18,76% stake in Surgica Robotica, a Trieste, Italy-based early stage developer of microsurgery devices.

The new microsurgery robots will be ready for experimenting by the end of next year in hospitals in Verona and Udine.

The AlAdInn Ventures fund aims to invest mainly in unlisted companies, operating within the reference geographical area which includes the territories of the Euroregion, currently in the start-up phase or experiencing rapid growth and by supporting their development also through strategic focusing and the creation of opportunities for expansion or enhancement through the network of contacts of Friulia SGR’s management team.

After the first closing, the fund is already operating with an initial allocation of €5m fully underwritten by Friulia S.p.A. A further fund raising is now under way with a goal to reach a fund size of at least €50m.
