Scotland, New Contest to Find The Local “New Big Thing”

Livingston-based Alba Innovation Centre launched a new contest to encourage new businesses from across Scotland, especially those in innovative technology sectors, to start up and locate in West Lothian.
The Alba Innovation Challenge offers a prize package of up to £50,000, including a cash prize of £10,000, plus £1000’s worth of business services, including consultancy, financial planning, legal and accountancy services and free office space for one year at the Alba Innovation Centre in Livingston, West Lothian.
Stephen Morris, senior advisor at the Alba Innovation Centre, was reported as saying: “We are delighted to be one of the sponsors of this competition. I see lots of new innovative business ideas and know that the main issues entrepreneurs face are raising finance and putting the key infrastructure in place to get their business off the ground. The prize package from this competition goes a long way to resolve these issues”.

The closing date for applications is Friday 30th October 2009.
