Remote Secures $11M in Seed Funding Round

Remote, a San Francisco, CA-based HR technology startup enabling simplified global employment, raised $11M in seed funding.

The round was led by Two Sigma Ventures, with participation from Index Ventures, General Catalyst, Liquid2, INKEF Ventures, Remote First Capital, and angel investors from GitLab and HackerOne.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its onboarding platform and extend coverage to forty new markets by the end of 2020, including Canada, Germany, the United States, and France.

Founded in San Francisco in 2019 by Job van der Voort (former VP of Product at GitLab) and Marcelo Lebre (former VP of Engineering at Unbabel), Remote provides a compliant platform which handles payroll, benefits, compliance, and taxes all in one single solution across international markets. Remote is a fully distributed company with employees based in several different countries.
