Confluent, Inc., a Mountain View, Calif.- and London, UK-based event streaming platform provider, closed a $250m Series E funding round.
The round, which brought total funding to $456m, was led by Coatue Management with participation from new investors Altimeter Capital and Franklin Templeton and existing investors Index Ventures and Sequoia Capital.
The company, which is valued at $4.5 billion, will use the funds to expand its offerings and its business reach.
Led by Jay Kreps, CEO and co-founder, Confluent provides an enterprise-ready event streaming platform, which allows organizations in every major industry to run real-time, event-driven applications, from batch processing, spanning on-premises and multi-cloud environments.
The company is now initiating the next generation of event streaming through Project Metamorphosis, which aims to provide the solution as a fully hosted platform in Confluent Cloud. Over the next eight months beginning in May, the company will announce major capabilities or highlight new product announcements on the first Wednesday of each month.
