Rancher Labs Raises $40M in Series D Funding

Rancher Labs, a Cupertino, Calif.-based creator a Kubernetes management platform, raised $40m in Series D funding.

The round, which brought total funding to date to $95m, was led by Telstra Ventures, with participation from existing investors Mayfield, Nexus Venture Partners, GRC SinoGreen, and F&G Ventures.

The company intends to use the funds to expand focus on:

1) product innovation, to continue to innovate in key areas including heterogenous cluster federation, fleet management, and Kubernetes at the edge,

2) increase investment in go-to-market activities, expanding sales coverage, marketing, finance, operations, customer success, and customer support, and growing expand geographic coverage within and beyond the fourteen countries where they currently operate and

3) accelerate market expansion, working with technology companies to develop innovative solutions in markets including 5G, digital factories, connected cars, video surveillance, and medical research.

Led by CEO Sheng Liang, Rancher Labs delivers open source software that enables organizations to deploy and manage Kubernetes at scale, on any infrastructure across the data center, cloud, branch offices, and the network edge. Its flagship product, Rancher, has 30,000 active users and more than 100 million downloads.
