Stampede Raises £1M in Seed Funding

stampedeStampede (formerly known as BLACKBX), a Leith, Scotland-based provider of online tools for offline businesses to connect with their customers, raised £1m in seed funding.

Backers included Techstart Ventures, Galvanise Capital and angel investor Judy Wilson, as well as the Scottish Government.

The company intends to use the funds to to grow its team, expand its sales remit and continue developing its suite of services.

Led by founder and CEO Patrick Clover, Stampede provides offline businesses with online tools to connect with customers and grow faster. Its first product is a Wi-Fi based customer engagement and marketing analytics tool, currently used by over 800 venues.
The company offers:
– In venue services, offering venues a secure, branded Wi-Fi login portal, so that customers can access online services without a registration process, and an Instagram-style “Stories” service which lets venues display short videos or landing pages of their latest promotions direct to customers’ mobile devices when they arrive at the venue.
– Post visit services offering a platform for venues to communicate with customers through automated email or SMS campaigns after their first visit.
– attract and return services, which enable food & drinks venues to improve their average review score and attract more new customers by prompting their most loyal customers to leave reviews within two hours of a visit.
Furthermore, the company enables venues to track the results of their marketing campaigns, see when customers return, how long they stay and which offers they use.
