Wheels Receives Investment from TDK Ventures

wheelsWheels, a San Jose, CA-based shared electric mobility company, received an investment from TDK Ventures, the venture arm of TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762).

The amount of the deal was not disclosed.

The company will leverage TDK Corporation’s expertise in electronics and sustainable energy solutions, and its extensive global reach, to expand operations, meet global customer demand and advance its technology to the next generation in micromobility electric transportation.

Founded by brothers Joshua and Jonathan Viner, Wheels is a shared electric micromobility platform that connects dockless electric bicycles. The company’s e-bike has large wheels and a low center of gravity, and in an upcoming release will include a patent-pending shareable and smart helmet system integrated directly into the bike. In addition, its modular design allows for swappable replacement parts, including replaceable batteries.
