Playtika, a Herzliya, Israel-based mobile games company, completed the acquisition of Finnish mobile game publisher Seriously.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Backed by Upfront Ventures, Sunstone Capital, Northzone and Korea Investment Partners, Seriously is the maker of Best Fiends, a cartoon style free puzzle adventure game and its sequel Best Fiends Forever.
The addition of the Best Fiends games to Playtika’s offering signals the company’s vision to build the world’s largest Western-focused mobile games and entertainment company as well as expands its presence into the casual games category.
For Playtika, this latest acquisition followed the ones in:
– Supertreat GmbH, the Graz, Austria-based mobile developer of Solitaire Grand Harvest, a solitaire that challenges people to play against themselves and win in order to expand their farm (2019),
– Wooga GmbH, a German puzzle and hidden object company (2018), and
– Jelly Button Games Limited, a cross-platform mobile game company (2017).
Seriously will continue to independently operate both offices in Helsinki, Finland, and Los Angeles, California, to build its mobile-first entertainment brand and content ecosystem. The company will leverage Playtika’s expertise in technology, online marketing, AI, analytics, and live operations to grow and expand the Best Fiends franchise.
Founded in 2010, Playtika is a gaming company with over 27 million monthly active users playing its popular casual games such as Tropicats, Pirate Kings, the ones coming from the above mentioned acquisitions and casino-style and poker games such as Slotomania, House of Fun, Word Series of Poker, Bingo Blitz, now competing with others entered in this list of the best online casinos usa.
Bought by a unit of casino operator Caesars Entertainment Corp. in 2016, for $4.4 billion by a private equity consortium led by Giant Interactive, Playtika was among the first companies to offer free-to-play social games on social networks and, shortly after, on mobile platforms.
Playtika has over two thousand employees in offices worldwide including Tel-Aviv, London, Berlin, Montreal, Chicago, Las Vegas, Santa Monica, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Kiev, Bucharest, Minsk, Dnepr and Vinnitsa.
