Accel Entertainment Acquires Grand River Jackpot

Accel Entertainment, Inc., a Bolingbrook, IL-based gaming-as-a-service provider, completed the previously announced purchase of Grand River Jackpot, LLC, one of the first licensed video game terminal operators in Illinois.

The amount of the deal was approximately $100 million in cash.

The acquisition is part of Accel’s strategy as they continue to expand into additional markets across the United States, challenging the market growth of online destinations like the ones featured in this site page on Timeform. Under this point of view, Grand River Jackpot represents a complement to Accel’s own geographic presence in southern Illinois.

Led by Gary Hoyer, CEO and President, Grand River Jackpot and its affiliates supply and service video gaming terminals, jukeboxes, pool tables, dart machines and ATMs throughout Illinois. The company was among the first licensed terminal operators possessing years of amusement, casino and gaming experience throughout the two states.

In details, as already announced on August 29, 2019, the acquisition:
– adds 1,893 video game terminals in 451 places, with an expected growth rate of 10% by 2021,
– accelerates near-term growth, including the addition of over 100 6th machine VGTs in existing locations and the go-live of current signed backlog, which is expected to add 30 locations over the next two years; and
– bring services in-house utilizing existing fleet and workforce.

For Grand River Jackpot, the deal is a natural next step for its development and accelerate growth plans.

Led by CEO Andy Rubenstein, Accel is a terminal operator of slot machines and amusement equipment in the Illinois video gaming market. The company, which was granted its Terminal Operator license by the Illinois Gaming Board on March 15, 2012 and started operations in the October of the same year, strategically places slot machines and amusements in nearly 1,800 locations including bars, restaurants, gaming cafes, truck stops and other establishments throughout Illinois.
