Yotta Raises $1.8M in Seed Funding and Grants

yottaYotta, an Austin, TX-based developer of panel-level energy storage, raised $1.5m in seed funding and an additional $300k in grants.

The backers were not disclosed.

The company intends to use the funds to expand its beta testing to several new installations with strategic partners.

Founded in 2017 and led by CEO Omeed Badkoobeh, Yotta is an energy storage company advancing a fully-integrated hardware/software solution for developers. Through its flagship product, SolarLEAF™, the company has pioneered a modular storage solution with smart thermal regulation that integrates behind each photovoltaic (PV) panel while maximizing life and performance. Yotta’s software platform enables the aggregate system to address various needs for energy control and resiliency.

In addition to fundraising, the company added:
– Phil Gilchrist, formerly of SunPower, as the company’s Director of Mechanical Design Engineering, and
– Jeff Williams, formerly of Draker, as Director of Electrical Engineering.
