Splunk Buys Cloud Monitoring Company SignalFx, for $1.05 Billion

splunkSan Francisco, CA-based Splunk Inc. (NASDAQ: SPLK) is to acquire SignalFx, a San Mateo, California-based provider of a SaaS-based real-time monitoring and metrics platform for cloud infrastructure, microservices and applications, for approximately $1.05 billion.

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory reviews.

The combination of Splunk and SignalFx will give IT and developers a data platform that allows them to monitor and observe data in real time, no matter the infrastructure or data volume, cut costs, boost revenue and improve the customer experience.

Led by Doug Merritt, President and CEO, Splunk allows organizations to ask questions, get answers, take actions and achieve business outcomes from their data. Organizations use its solutions with machine learning to monitor, investigate and act on all forms of business, IT, security, and Internet of Things data.

Led by Karthik Rau, Founder and CEO, SignalFx provides a SaaS-based monitoring and analytics platform which allows customers to analyze, visualize, automate, and alert on metrics data from infrastructure, applications, microservices, containers, and functions.
