Mister Spex, a Berlin, Germany-based online optician, raised €65m in funding.
The round was led by The Büll Family Office with participation from existing investors Global Growth Capital, which provided a senior debt facility.
The company intends to use the funds to further develop its retail store portfolio and accelerate its international expansion plans.
Founded in 2007 by Dirk Graber and Dr Mirko Caspar, Mister Spex is an online and offline optician that provides customers with contact lenses and designer glasses and sunglasses.
The company produces their own brand, and acquires original products and frames from all the major manufacturers. The online store currently features over 11,000 models of glasses and sunglasses from more than 100 brand names, including Ray-Ban, Boss Orange, Prada and Tom Ford.
Mister Spex operates eleven retail stores in Germany, and operates a network of partner opticians in the same country, as well as Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Sweden.
