WattBuy Raises $1.2M in Seed Funding

wattbuyWattBuy, a Seattle, WA-based energy intelligence startup, raised $1.2m in seed funding.

Backers included Powerhouse Ventures and Schmidt Futures.

The company intends to use the funds to expand market access and deepen its data science capabilities.

Founded in August 2017 by Naman Trivedi and Ben Hood, WattBuy operates an electricity marketplace which leverages a personalized recommendation engine for residents to set up electricity plans for their home based on preference and usage.
The company currently operate in Texas, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

WattBuy participated in Techstars’ Kansas City Accelerator in June 2018. It is now backed by Powerhouse Ventures, Fort Ventures, John Sherman (former CEO of Inergy, board member of Great Plains Energy), Justin Alanis (CEO of Rentlytics, sold to RealPage), and James Beshara (CEO of Tilt, sold to Airbnb).
