RoadBotics Closes $7.5M Series A Funding

RoadBoticsRoadBotics, a Pittsburgh, PA-based Artificial Intelligence-driven, computer vision road assessment company, closed a $7.5M Series A funding.

The round was led by Radical Ventures, with participation from Hyperplane Venture Capital and Wharton Alumni Angels of Silicon Valley.

The company intends to use the funds to accelerate its growth and development of new products.

Spun out of Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute in 2016 by Mark DeSantis, Dr. Benjamin Schmidt, and Dr. Christoph Mertz, RoadBotics is an infrastructure technology company that uses AI to allow governments and engineering firms to make data-driven pavement management decisions.
RoadWay, its online GIS platform, offers decision-makers a tool to monitor their road networks, communicate budget needs to city council, or resolve citizen complaints. The roads and photos of each 10-foot segment are color-coded from green to red, allowing anyone from a council member or a citizen to a field operator to use it without any prior knowledge or training.
Over 150+ governments across in 23 US states and 11 countries already use the company’s solution to fix the right roads at the right time.
