Union Square Ventures Raises Two Venture Capital Funds, Totalling $450M

usvUnion Square Ventures, a New York City-based venture capital firm, raised two new funds.

These vehicles, USV’s sixth early stage and third opportunity funds, respectively, include:
– the 2019 Core Fund, which has commitments of $200m, and
– the 2019 Opportunity Fund, which has commitments of $250m.

The firm has made investments from the new Opportunity Fund already, including Marley Spoon and several more about to close and is also about to close the first investment from the new Core Fund.

Union Square Ventures has also expanded the team with Gillian Munson, who has joined as a partner. Munson will be taking on many of the financial responsibilities and be making investments and taking board seats.
In addition, Nick Grossman, who has been a longstanding member of the team, has become a partner and will be announcing an investment that he is leading shortly. He will continue with some of the policy work he has been doing with an ongoing focus on all things crypto.

– John Buttrick
– Rebecca Kaden
– Albert Wenger
– Andy Weissman, and
– Fred Wilson

The firm will continue to invest with a thesis-driven approach, including blockchain and crypto currencies.
