Lightspeed Systems, an Austin, Texas-based education technology solutions provider, received a strategic growth investment from private equity funds advised by Madison Dearborn Partners.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed. Following the investment, Lightspeed’s existing management team will remain in place and have an ownership position in the company. Together with MDP, Lightspeed will seek to extend its market leadership position and further penetrate the domestic and international K-12 web filtering and reporting, mobile device management and classroom management market.
Led by Brian Thomas, Co-Founder, President and CEO, Lightspeed Systems offers Relay, a cloud software platform that filters, monitors and manages student web access, distributed devices and classroom activities. The filtering solution for school device management gives support for every operating system, device type, and location.
